Collab: $20 Makeup Haul Challenge

This challenge was originally done by my style inside out and stashmatters. I found myself engrossed with the thought of doing it Philippines style so when they asked who’s still up for the challenge, I volunteered. With me is my sister-in-blogging-faith lipstick and bottles as my collaborator. May I now present to you our Collab: $20 Makeup Haul Challenge ( Philippine Edition)

image

First let me orient you with our current Dollar to Philippine Peso rate exchange.

$1 = Php46.39 for mystyleinsideout whereas CAD 1 = Php35.01 for Stashmatters. I decided to use the CAD equivalent so CAD20 = Php 700.20. So my makeup items would sum up to Php 700.20 worth.
Lipstickandbottles and I agreed to have everything from our local makeup brand. We also put into consideration the makeups that we could wear everyday with a hint of summer influence for full face.
I decided to drop by HBC that day to see what I can get since I’ve been eyeing their San San liquid foundation. HBC is mostly known for the Hortaleza brand. I believe it is our drugstore version where prices ranges from below Php 100 and up. When we say hortaleza  the first that comes to mind is beauty salon, because they are the vast supplier of salon products here not to mention the nippers where they do the sharpening. But they are also known for their makeup line which is San San and Allure My first makeup for teens to name a few.
I chose San San Matte Finish Liquid Foundation. I read that it adheres well to oily skin like mine.
image

This retails for Php 140.00 in 1.04fl.oz/30ml glass bottle.

image

It comes with a paddle type applicator but word of caution tho, it tends to stuck when you are about to pull it open so be careful or you might waste the product.

image

The SA says I’m in the color light Ivory which is no.2. The consistency is a bit runny. A little bit goes a long way for this product which made me think about the paddle applicator. Very summer appropriate because of the SPF 15 plus vitamins A, C and E which is good for the skin.
Next is San San Creamy Matte Lipstick.

image
This retails for Php 150. I got overly excited on this one that I teared off the plastic cover immediately not knowing the vital information written on it. Let me just pause for awhile and admire the shiny mettalic aqua case. To be honest, it adds up to the appeal. I chose the color Luscious Plum since it’s summer and I see that it’s fast becoming a trend color here for the season.

image
San San creamy matte lipstick has a SPF 15 with vitamin A, C and E that nourishes and keeps the lips from being dry perfect for summer.
For the eyes, I got the San San False Lash Effect Mascara which retails for Php 185.
image

The false lash effect got me here. But I’m not quite sure if it should be volumizing since it calls for a false eyelash look which we all know makes our lashes look fuller. Though it didn’t give me a volumized lash, I’m pretty much satisfied how it made my eyes look lively. It opened up my peepers without being so obvious that I was wearing a mascara plus my lashes feels soft not stiff. It has a good wear time without smudging.
Unfortunately there isn’t any available eye shadow at that time. I haven’t seen any blush-on either. With this I thought I have to go to the cashier and try visiting another store. I was having my last stop in the makeup aisle then I found this.

image

I will be too heartbroken if I’ll leave this so I decided to toss it inside my basket. Basically, I’m just an eyebrow and lipstick girl. Anything for my brows, I’ll go for it. Undecided if I’ll include it in my challenge tho. With nothing left in mind I headed to the cashier. As she finished punching the items, to my surprise the SA handed me two blush-ons.

image
Yay!! Finally, my blush-on problem is solved!

image

Since I got a total of Php 610 that I was able to snagged two. For every Php 300 worth of makeup items, you’ll get one. But the freebies didn’t end up there. Along with my receipt, they handed a Coupon that entitles for a Free Diamond Peel at any HBC branch. Geez, I was able to hit a good spot on choosing HBC that day.
image

For my eye shadow, I decided to include the newly released palette of Ever Bilena which I purchased ahead but is still sitting in my stash
image

.
This retails for Php 150. Not bad for a six decent pan of colors. This is available also in Pink Palette but I opted for the Brown Palette which consists of six shimmery colors all pigmented and easy to blend. I also find it’s texture buttery smooth that pleased me so much. The palette is so handy with a small mirror inside which you can bring along with you for easy touch-ups. This palette pretty much reminds me of NYX’s.
image

I find that I could also use the first one for highlight and the second to the last for contouring. Brilliant!
image

Last would be the Ever Billena Ever Original Pencil in brown for Php 100 that I can use for an eyeliner and for shaping/filling my brow

image

To sum it all up, I got a grand total of Php 725 excluding the brow mascara. I exceeded with Php 25. Still under the 700 bracket. Yes! But considering the freebies that I got, even I add up the brow mascara I still got to save a lot with the 2 blush on that amounts to Php 100+ and Diamond Peel that could go to Php 1,000 or $22. Yay for the freebies!
It has indeed pleased me to do this challenge that I was able to feature our local brand. The freebies are just the icing of the cake. The quality is the one incomparable. There are alot of good brands out there, they just lack in some exposure. All you need is a strong heart to do the test. I hope you enjoyed this collab with my beautiful ladies and please do also check out lipstick and bottles to see what she has in store for you.

The Sally Hansen Airbrush Face Make Up: Yay or Nay?

My obsession with light weight make ups leads me in finding products that I could use daily, not time consuming and effortlessly natural. If I’ll be lucky enough, a budget friendly one would be a big bonus. Just recently that I found out that Sally Hansen famous for their leg airbrush has came up with another revolutionary Airbrush Face Makeup. On the website it says:

image
photo taken from the Sally Hansen website

Uniquely designed airbrush delivery system expels a cool, extra-fine mist for a flawless finish. Our exclusive formula is weightless, with micro-fine pigments that blend onto skin beautifully and won’t settle into pores, lines or wrinkles. Apply a small amount for a light veil of coverage or build up more for greater coverage. Comes in 6 natural shades to match your skin tone!

The benefits includes:

  • Oil-free
  • Evens out skin tone
  • Minimizes look of pores
  • Long wearing
  • For all skin types

What’s good about airbrush formula is that you could have a more even finish. Another point is that it doesn’t settle into pores, lines and wrinkles unlike the traditional foundation. So persons like me who freaks out on my wee under eye lines, this is a tick on my list.
Another tick would be the oil-free formula. Me having a combination oily skin, I really dislike it when my make up speeds the oil production on my face.
On my perspective, I believe that airbrush makeup is something that you wouldn’t be afraid of building. The light coverage helps for the product to sit evenly on your skin without worries of being cakey.
My only qualm would be the application. Though according to reviews, this product is easy to apply. Against my better judgement of how I could handle the application pushes me aback. Though this could be handled with thorough practice and right tools, I’m settled.
Price is roughly at $13 vs $22 and $62 (other leading brands)

Have you tried using Sally Hansen Face Airbrush Makeup or any of it’s kind? What are your thoughts?

The Ever Bilena Lip and Cheek Stain Review

Hi All!

April has been giving me very challenging days that I can’t hardly cope up with my blog. I know, this shouldn’t be my excuse, since I’ve been missing you guys so much. One of my April highlights is my sister’s wedding. And so my other sister and I have been obsessing with what clothes to wear, shoes, make-up, etc. That typical bridesmaid problem. Only we’re not the bridesmaid. Anyways, we don’t really dwell that much on the clothes to wear but we focused ourselves on our make-ups. What to do?? To be honest, I’m not really a make up wearer. Don’t get me wrong here but I love them. It’s just that  i’m not into the full-gear-wearing of such. My staple would be, a good primer, good foundation (something that will get along with my combi skin well) brows, and very nice lipstick. If there is an event that I would attend, this calls for a blush. I believe that if your lipstick is good enough, it would accentuate your eyes and cheeks well. There are these lipsticks that once you wear, it gives a certain glow in your eyes as well as a hint of blush on the cheeks. That’s on my opinion. And since it’s a family event, this calls for a blush on!

I’ve been on the hunt for this Lip and Cheek Tint since I saw this sought after celebritry here in our country sport it on tv. She admits that this is her holy grail since she’s a mestiza a simple flush would do. I know it’s not only me but millions have been following on what’s that specific brand she is using. It really did her justice knowing that this is a local brand, and since mostly all celebrities here uses the high end ones, this really is a must have. On a second thought, maybe it only suits mestiza skin. Or wilI it give me the same flush that she had since my skin is not as fair nor smooth. But then again, girls mindset would be, “I-might-achieve-the-same-look” pushes well.

Due to some advertising technicalities that they were not allowed to disclose the name of the brand, since they’re not sponsors. So with a failed heart, I stopped my haunt. Until one day while strolling down the make up aisle that I found this tube very similar to what that cekebrity is holding. Yes, I had really photographed it in my mind so well for future reference. Finally, it’s a match! And to give a confirmation to my findings, I read from the brand’s official Instagram account  that it is indeed what she is using. Can’t really contain my excitement on these since it’s been on my lookout for months! And my hesistance and second thoughts was erased when I finally used the product. It really didn’t fail me. So, here are my thoughts on the Ever Bilena Lip and Cheek Stain in Very Red:image

Pros

  • The color payoff is very good.
  • The gel like consistency makes it easy to blend, which also gives you the right amount of time to adhere in your skin. Thus answering my lip and cheek tint problem in which the product easily dries up once you put it on your skin. Giving you no time to blend and worst becomes patches of red giving you a clown effect.
  • The staying power is long. Had it on for 7 good long hours on my cheeks  without touch ups. Had it also on my lips and suprisingly it didn’t dried up nor it gave me a chapped one.
  • Reasonably priced at Php 135 or $4 for a 20ml. Comes in an easy to squeeze transparent tube giving you control on the amount of product you want to use.
  • Has a sweet smelling scent.

Cons

  • Though it smells good, unfortunately it tastes bitter. But that did’t bother me much as long as it’s tolerable.
  • The color wears off on my lips after eating so I need to touch up. But this was after 6 hours.

Summing it all up, Ever Bilena is a must have specially for those who wishes quick look transformation and who are always in a jiffy. It’ affordable price but good quality made it a stand out to other local brands.

Let me know your thoughts on Lip and Cheek Tints. And would you prefer it rather than powder or mousse blush on.

Have a great day ahead!😘

Lip and Cheek Therapy by Sooper Beaute

My recent purchase was a lip tint that I bought from an Online shop on my Instagram. I should say that our quest for a non-chapped, non-drying lip tint has finally ended. Thanks to SooperBeaute they had me introduced to their Lip and Cheek Therapy.  And our being lucky didn’t just end there for we got to avail their buy 1 take 1 promo. They had two variants for their lip and cheek tint which are Delicious Pink and Hot Red. These are reasonably priced at Php 180.00. Really a great buy for me.

Now, here are my thoughts.

The flat tip applicator is a big plus for me because it gives that precise application. There is less worries on applying.

The left side was taken in natural lighting while the right one was taken with a flash. I used two photo samples on this only because I want to give you the truest to the product color which is on the right side.

These are the photos I took wearing the Lip and Cheek Therapy in Hot Red.

On the left is my first application, the middle part when still wet and on the right when is has finally took set.  And below is after 4 times of application.

InstaSize_2015_2 _ 25904

This product contains Vitamin E and Collagen that makes your lips moisturized and hydrated. The main reason why my lips is still soft and didn’t dry after wearing nor after several application. It doesn’t have an irritating smell.

All in all I give this a thumbs up because it all hits the spot on what we specifically look for a lip tint. I definitely would repurchase again.

Please check out their Instagram account SooperBeaute or like their Facebook page Sooper Beaute. They currently have an ongoing buy 1 take 1 promo on their facial and body sets. You could also win 4 New! Lip and Cheek Therapy for their March Giveaway contest.
