Code RED

I know most of you are preparing for the V-Day since it’s just a matter of days. Most have come up with valentine inspired makeups, outfits and the likes. Some might even suggest a good place to spend an evening whether to dine or simply cherish this wonderful time. For me, it’s a great way of posting my top three red lipstick with still valentines in mind. Even thinking of it as I write makes me giggle in the inside, I feel that it’s pretty lame of an idea but hey, I’m still going to push it anyway.

First, let me just share you what my curiosity for red lead me to. Aside from the fact that it’s my favorite shade of lipstick for obvious reason, I wonder what mainly attracts men to woman wearing red. Most for this time of the year, Valentines. My initial thought was because it’s correlated to hearts so they pretty much follow it as a rule. For a girl spending this day with a date, somewhere in her ensemble there just got to be red. Forgive me but I still haven’t experience that impact when you wear red on a date. Is it really effective? Okay, no going on details why I don’t. All I know is the second looks that I got when I wear my red lipsticks. Is it similar to that? Anyways, from what I read, men are primitive in nature. The same signals a “chimpanzee reddened conspicously when nearing ovulation, sending a clear sexual signal to attract male” (Psychological Study Reveals that Red Enhances Men Attraction to Women) Being synonymous to primates, men demonstrates the same response to red. Oh, Okay. With now fully educated why we are chased when in red, let us now go to the main reason of what I’m being chased for .*wink*

There is really a big difficulty of chosing my top three picks because honestly, I all do love them. So I decided to just categorized them on the number of cat calls that I recieve when I wear them. Kidding! I ranked them according to mainly the color payoff. For me a good red is just a swipe away. My main three consists of a creme lipstick, a local brand and a dupe. Let’s start.

Colourette by FnF in Helena

It’s a local brand only available here in the Philippines and gained it’s popularity through Instagram. Just like Melt cosmetics and the likes who reached fandom on this social site, this I should say is our version. I’m really impressed on how pigmented their lipsticks are, literally just one swipe. (for in depth review, see my Naughty or Nice Review here)

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Grand Cru

Bourjois is produced with the same manufacturer of Channel. I first learned of it from Fivezero, (my wonderful nailpolish expert who houses a vast library of nail polishes in her blog) Unfortunately, it’s not available here in my country. I was just lucky enough to have my brother purchase it for me in Singapore. This is a Wow! Red for me. It’s kind a bit on a vampy side but I love it just the same. Really bold with a matte finish. ( I applied lip balm here because of the endless swatches, hence the glossy look) It’s creamy, applies like a dream and it’s light. (review coming up soon!)

Me Now Pro Kiss Proof Soft Lipstick in #013

Yes, this is the dupe that I’m talking about. Only for Php 149 ($3.13) and guess what lipstick color is this similar to? It’s a dupe for Ruby Woo which makes it an instant hit. It’s always a sold out here where aside from the two impressive attributes is also a one-swipe-true-to-it’s-color lipstick that I love. It’s matte, affordable and a MAC dupe so what more could I ask for?

There you have it ladies, my three code reds that I love not only for the Valentines but also the rest of the year. Be sure to wear something red this coming V-day to wow your man. Enjoy!

Under the lens: A look at Ever Bilena Lipsticks

It is of the obvious that lip products (lipsticks, for that matter) occupies a special place in my heart. I could easily give up my “low buy” rule on this for I never grew tired of owning even if i’m this close to hoarding. With this the case, putting priority on local brands became my focal point only not to lost track. I also would like to emphasize that there are good products that are locally made which doesn’t costs an arm. At the same time, having faith with my local brands on the perspective that it’s not a matter of trend, name or fancy a product should be but of what your skin best speaks to. And in that case, I believe that it’s still best to use our own produce because they know among others, our skin concern.
With all these in mind, I decided to put up a post showcasing what we have in the line of make ups and skincare and the very first that I would like to introduce to you is Ever Bilena.
My love for this brand specificaly on their matte lipsticks grew when they began opening their doors to world class quality. This was the time when they become expanding their line catering more to our needs. It is good to know that there is Ever Bilena who made our wishes come true. Bearing in mind what’s best for the mostly olive skin Filipina, I specifically love how they made their lip products in line of the changing wants. They produce a good kind of matte lippies that has a wide range of colors. These hues are simply at par with other leading imported brands. Some could even be a dupe of popular named ones which makes this brand a household name. And what’s best is that it only cost a quarter of the amount.
At of present count, I owned five Ever Bilena lipsticks. Three EB Matte and two EB Advance Supreme Lipsticks

( I suppose you can tell my favorite kind huh?) As much as I would love to have more (there are still some waiting on my tick list) I promise to limit myself not until it’s almost half. Just because I can’t contain my excitement (if I could just squeeze this in) as of this writing a new line of liquid foundation is released making me curious of their soft natural finish.

Something that i’m excited to review. Only from the country’s trusted leading cosmetic brand.

It’s a Choose Day featuring Hers 2n1 Sexy Lips & Cheeks with Pheromone

Hi All!
Supposedly this is a Tuesday Choose Day post but unfortunately I wasn’t able to put it up. Anyways, I have this idea going through my mind for quite sometime now. The inspiration for this is I want to feature random products that piqued my interest and have it shared to YOU, my beautiful readers.
These are rare finds that are a bit unique in some ways, the not so typical ones that you thought wouldn’t exists.
For my first Choose, Hers 2n1 Sexy Lips & Cheeks with Pheromone

Aside from the obvious, (lipsticks) which in any other form would still interests me, this product got me by Pheromone. But before we go further, a look at what Pheromone is.

Pheromone a chemical substance produced and released into the environment by an animal, especially a mammal or an insect, affecting the behavior or physiology of others of its species.

Exactly what I have in mind. A chemical substance released to attract. Just imagine this being bottled or added to a lip product. I can’t fathom even the attraction it could give let the lipstick alone more so with pheromones. Some might find it weird but at the back of my mind why is it saying genius?

Let’s dig deeper..

I happend to find this product through a local youtuber that i watch religiously. On one of her make up tutorials, this specific lipstick caught me. I’m not sure if my eyes were lying, but all throughout that video, I can’t help but admire how she was able to sport such an awesome summer look. But more specifically my eyes were tuned to her lips. I suddenly became interested on finding out the brand that i immediately looked at her description box. There, voila! It’s Hers 2n1 Sexy Lips and Cheeks with Pheromones. Excuse me? Say what?? Pheromones? You got to be kidding.

A local online shop carries this brand but originally it’s from Thailand. I tried searching only to find out it’s written in Thai. So I have to google translate it for me to fully understand. The company is still new with it’s lip line as their sole product yet. I believe their goal is We wake up confidence sleeping inside. It’s a lip and cheek tint i believe with a soft matte finish. This retails for 450 THB ( roughly $13.38) It claims to sold 10,000 bars in just three months. The Pheromones might also got them. I haven’t gotten any decent reviews yet for all is written and said in Thai. The only description that I got from the site is it’s soft matte or I haven’t fully translated it. Given that it’s matte, I suppose it’s stays a minimum of four hours.

Will I be purchasing the product? I’m not yet sold to the Pheromones idea though I admit that I’m very very curious. I still need a thorough explanation on how they were able to capture it and from where. I believe humans, animals and insects has it. I’m kinda creep out from the idea. Not until I get a full knowledge of how it’s being extracted on a safely measure, cruel free then I could give consideration. But I can’t beat the fact that Pheromones really attracts. “It’s not Magic. It’s Science!”

The Lipstick Tag

I’ve never been more excited when I was tagged by what I consider as my fairy godsister, Stash Matters to do The Lipstick Tag. A big THANKS for granting me my wish. My posting is already three days behind time due to an inevitable circumstances (original post was deleted! *facepalm*) that I have to start over again. If it weren’t for the love of lipsticks… Anyways, if there is one product that I often use as an excuse to break my “low buy” rule would have to be buying lipsticks. If I can’t resists my urge to be polite and talk to every single brand as I walk down every make up aisle, I would end up bringing home a load. With that I decided to put a condition, to purchase more on locally produced brands just because they are limited and hoarding will be avoided. This explains that certain products mentioned here are not that familiar. Let’s get started.

The Rules

  1. TAG 3 bloggers to answer these same questions.
  2. Those bloggers will TAG 3 more bloggers of their choice with the same questions & rules.
  3. No tag backs

The Questions

1. How many lipsticks do you own?

I have 36.

2. What was your first ever lipstick?

If my memory serves me right, it’s Lancome Rouge Magnetic. I just forgot the name of       the color but the hue is nude with pinkish undertone and hint of shimmers.

3. What is your most worn lipstick?

Because it’s summer here, I just wear something light and easy to wear so it’s got to be      Ever Bilena’s Lip and Cheek Stain.

4. What is your favorite brand for lipsticks?

Lancome really gave me a very good impression.

5. What is your favorite finish?

I admit that I’m lazy in retouching my lipstick so I always wear mattes. It’s a bit drying         though but I guess it’s the price that I have to pay for the compliments that I get.

6. What is the last lipstick you bought?

I bought two matte shades from Ever Bilena Supreme Matte. If you’ll ask me why always Ever Bilena, because it gives me quality dupes of some famous brands that I want. And the best part is that it only costs me quarter of the amount good enough for me to buy another brand that I love. Another one is from an online store on Instagram named Sooper Beaute. Every make up here is legit and really of good quality. I got two Lip and Cheek Creme/ Tint for the price of one. What surprised me is that these lip products didn’t dry my lips, swear!

7. How many lip products do you currently have in your bag?

I always tidy up my bag after a day so I can’t remember. But what I’m sure is Lip Tattoo Pen from FM is present.

8. What lipstick do you use to rock a red lip?

shut up

I love the bluish red that compliments my skin tone and it’s demi matte.

9. How do you store your lipsticks?

They are all placed in one drawer. But I’m planning to buy some acrylic cases. Looking      at the array of lipsticks neatly arranged would be really fun.

10. What lip products are you currently lusting over?

I have two. First, the Peripera Rouge Pang. The Intense colors are very intriguing to think that these are only lip balms. And Rire Lip Manicure which is a matte lipstick said to be long wearing than your manicure but only it’s for the lips.

I don’t want to end the excitement so I’m tagging christyy2010  Sanseoul and Binequeen to do the tag as well. I really want to know a lot more of what these beautiful ladies already has.

Going Random on a Sunday: Periscope and Pop Lip Colour and Primer

Hi All!

I just want to hit my laptop keys fast as I soon get hold of these two significant “P’s” in my life as of the moment. Funny that it’s not related in any way but only because it is something that I believe will what most likely would Spring be. All the innovation and revolution. Let start with technology first:

Periscope is currently the “it” thing as of the moment. This app which was initially launched just two days ago enables you to watch a certain person from another part of the world, real time. Live-streaming is what technology enthusiast perceived the future. Right from what it means, a Periscope lets an observer see things that are otherwise out of sight. Sharing what you are having for the world to see. This new app under twitter is earning a huge following to date. Receiving everything first hand, from a pet sleeping, a recent live band performance, a runway show or the news readily shown straight in your smartphones. Currently, the app is only available on iOS with Android still on the works. What I really like about this is that I’ll be able to see first hand news, a certain event, on at a given time. How I see this would be widely used as a new medium in the broadcasting world as to the fastest way of disseminating news to the people. Right here, right now. And what’s more is the live interaction between the broadcaster and the viewer. You got to leave comments and read others as well. Here’s a look of what is Periscope.  PicMonkey Collage
So hit your favorite twitter following and see if they are on Periscope and broadcasting live!

Pop Lip Colour and Primer of Clinique. I think it is all clear how I obsessed lipsticks or any lip products to that matter. Just imagine how my jaws dropped upon seeing Clinique Pop Lip Colour and Primer I’ve been a lover of Clinique since they are all compatible to my sensitive skin. It’s lightweight formula is what I truly adore. I just can’t contain my excitement for this new line and what’s in store. I checked the website if it’s already avaiIable (this was four days ago) but weren’t. So I made further research firsts, read blogs and reviews. The products released then is for a press kit sent out to respective bloggers for them to make swatches and give their honest opinion on the said products. So far what I all read are very promising ( promising since I haven’t tried it first hand yet) This newly released line of lipsticks are now available in Sephora (as of this writing) And as I checked, it is also now available on clinique.com online. The new collection is for their Spring release having 15 demi-matte (much more natural that a straight matte) colors consists of 4 sets in Tawnies/Corals, Nudes, Pinks and Violets. The company description says, “This lip color develops a lightweight formula that lasts for up to eight hours. It glides on effortlessly, creating a modern-velvet finish that keeps lips comfortable while lip color that stays true.”  Wow! Imagine a lipstick and a primer in one. Primers, primarily is used in preparation in applying make ups. For the skin, it aids in creating a less oily, more matte appearance and helps in making make up lasts longer. While on the lips, it smoothens and prepares for a long wear. Personally I do prefer Matte lipsticks because of it’s long wearing and bright color. But I hate that it leaves my lips so dry. I know most of you are on the look for a lip product that are comfortable to wear and yet has that true color that lasts. This is a make-up revolution to look out for this Spring.
